Simplifies SIM registration with a self-service kiosk

Smart Kiosk enables customers to purchase and register SIM cards without visiting a retail store. As a UX/UI designer, I worked closely with researchers, developers, and stakeholders to continuously refine the experience through usability testing while balancing changing compliance requirements and technical limitations.

Insight 1

  • Users couldn't tell which SIM belonged to which ID.

  • Design Solution: Added step-by-step confirmation and paired one SIM with one ID during registration.

Insight 2

  • Unaware that passport registration required an additional visa verification step, leading to confusion and failed registration attempts.

  • Design Solution: Separated the passport registration flow and introduced contextual guidance to explain the additional verification requirements clearly.

  • First-time kiosk users hesitated during face scanning.

  • Design Solution: Designed visual instructions and real-time guidance to support successful identity verification.

This project taught me that successful product design is often about balancing competing constraints. Every design decision had to satisfy user needs, technical limitations, vendor capabilities, and evolving government regulations simultaneously.
